Fire Alarms, Bad Timing, and Me in Shorts

I'll post a picture here of my cat being mesmerized by the snow -
simply because I refuse to show a picture of me in my shorts.

I like to take late lunches - around 1pm. I don't actually eat lunch, though. I go to the gym. I get to the gym at around 1:10pm today and get on the treadmill. I'm taking it slow - a nice brisk walk about to start jogging. But wait.

Fire alarm. Great, somebody's burnt their f-ing popcorn again.

Runner of the gym, "Everybody grab their stuff, we have to get outside."

I grab a towel and my bag.

My current outfit: Running shorts, running shoes, my Pitt Basketball shirt.

Current Weather in DC: 26 (F), feels like 15 (F). Light snow.

Yes, that's right. I had to go stand outside wrapped in a towel in shorts and a t-shirt in freezing weather (and snow). I met up with my fellow co-workers and laughed about the situation, all the while refusing people's offers for jackets. Surprisingly, I wasn't cold. I just felt great, however, looking like the asshole in shorts in the middle of winter.

In the end, I accepted a hat, gloves, and a jacket from a wonderful woman that went to her car and got the jacket for me. I wrapped the towel around my legs - yeah, I looked like I had just ran out of the shower - and suffered through the cold. My favorite part was when the wind blew, and the snow would hit my face. Great stuff right there.

We were outside for 30 minutes. I did not work out afterwards.

So a great thank you to the person that burned their popcorn, yet again. I will send you a bill for my copay when I have to go to the doctor with pneumonia.

Asshole.

Things That Make Me Smile on the Metro in the Morning:

  • The man who gives me my paper.
  • When it sounds like the train announcer guy likes his job.
  • When the person next to me doesn't smell like mothballs (not today though!!)
  • Tony Bennett in the morning.
  • Jack Johnson in the morning.
  • Walking through an awesome snowfall on my way into work.
